Mark Bray

Bursary Program

Mark Bray Bursary Program

The Newcastle Branch has partnered with the University of Newcastle for the Mark Bray Bursary Program. Named after well known IR Professor Mark Bray, who made a significant contribution to contribution to the Newcastle industrial relations.

Each year five host employers from the Newcastle area provide an opportunity for second year IR university students to gain practical experience during a semester of work placement. These students are provided with a bursary of $2000 to assist with their studies and development, as well as complimentary IRS Newcastle membership and access to all our events.

At the completion of the program each host organisation and student present their learnings and projects to the committee.

Previous host employers include The Wests Group, ConnectAbility, University of Newcastle, SDA, Port Stephens Council, and Progress Rail.
